Safety tips
Verify the identities of both traveller and sender
Right after you close a deal DePacto provides you the contact information of the users involved in the pact. We suggest you always ask for ID’s when subsequent personal meetings take place in order to confirm the identities of the parties you are dealing with. In this manner, should a problem arise you can ask for legal consideration.
FOR THE TRAVELLER
How can I make sure I’m not transporting illegal goods?
As a norm, we advise all travellers to ask senders for the packages to be sealed in the presence of the travellers. This way the traveller has an opportunity to inspect the packages to be transported and make sure all goods are legal. If the sender does not consent to closing the packages in front of you, we advise you to reject them.
What if I am asked at the airline counter if I am transporting goods which are not mine?
As a general rule, we advise all travellers to disclose they are transporting parcels as couriers. Most likely, the packages will only be submitted to screening prior to boarding. However, if the traveller has already properly inspected the parcels and determined they are completely legal, informing airline personnel could be optional. In such cases, legal responsibility for transported goods lies solely with the traveller.
FOR THE SENDER
How am I guaranteed that my parcels will reach their destination safely?
DePacto provides a safety ranking for all of its registered users. We advise you to review the traveller’s ranking and detailed profile before committing yourself to a deal. User rank is determined by the user’s history, comments and evaluations by other users, and other information the user may have provided DePacto, such as a credit card account, among others. We kindly ask you to contribute your comments and rankings on travellers you have dealt with in order to maintain our ranking system and detailed profiles always up to date.
